When I moved to California from New York, I thought I was embarking on a life with endless summers. Turns out the The Mamas & The Papas don't know what their talking about.
It's been rainy and cold for the past few weeks, and today even though the sun is out- it's so windy that I woke up to the loud noise all of my windows violently flapping open and shut - knocking over lamps, doors slamming, and screens coming off their hinges. So much for California Dreamin'.
A good friend of mine put together a little charity auction last night, and she called me last minute to see if I could provide the music for the evening. I think I can handle that. When I asked her the type of music she wanted me to play - she said "Happy. Warm. Indie. Happy. Something to make people forget that it's rainy and cold outside. Mellow, but not depressing."
Got it.
The mix titled Clear Skies (taken from one of my favorite Strokes songs) is a selection of songs I played. Great for a rainy sunday night, small dinner party, or blustery Monday morning at work.
